The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Opaluwa Aku, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi on Sunday that the suspect, who works at the Saviour Medical Centre, Makurdi, was alleged to have poured acid on Deborah Tsee.
Mr Aku said that Eunice Tsee, a sister to the victim, reported at the ‘B' Division Police Station, Makurdi on January 15, 2011, that an unknown attacker poured acid on her sister and ran away. "It was in the course of investigation that the medical doctor was identified as the suspect" he said. He said that Dr Terdo, who had been released on bail, denied knowledge of the allegation against him.
According to the police boss, the accused claimed to have parted ways with the victim a year ago and had no reason to harm her. Deborah, revealed on her hospital bed at the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, that the person who poured acid on her was dark in complexion while her former lover was light in complexion.
She, however, maintained that she suspected Dr Terdo to have sent the attacker because he had earlier sent the same person to her. According to her, the unnamed attacker came in company of one lady named Joy. Deborah appealed to the government to come to her aid as she will need a plastic surgery to reduce the damage on her face and back.
